Renault Trucks, with roots dating back to 1894, today manufactures trucks and other vehicles for defense and security applications as well as for long haul and vocational usage.
Renault Trucks was founded in 1978 as a merger between Berliet and Saviem, and is now a subsidiary of Volvo after an acquisition in 2001. But the company has roots that go all the way back to 1894, when Marius Berliet created a single cylinder engine and built a his first gas-powered vehicle. Not long after that, in 1906, Berliet built his first truck.
Today, Renault sells trucks and other vehicles for defense and security organizations as well as for on-highway long haul trucking and vocational usage. Renault trucks are used in construction, delivery, and other industries.
In addition to building trucks and vans with multiple cab configurations, including day cab and sleeper cab among others, Renault also offers numerous services to go along with its vehicles. Some of these include Optifuel, which is designed to help companies achieve the best possible fuel economy, and Optifleet, which helps you take care of the bigger picture when managing a full fleet of Renault trucks. With these services, you get access to fuel consumption information for multiple trucks as well as invaluable data on how drivers are actually operating the truck to shore up training programs with real-world experience.
