Thanks to a variety of engines and equipment options, the IVECO Stralis can easily adapt to multiple applications. The standard lighter Stralis is just right for urban, municipal, and light construction uses, while the heavy duty Stralis is ideal for the long haul. The long haul model was updated in 2013 as the Stralis Hi-Way and won first place in that year’s International Truck of the Year award.
Overall, the Stralis range has appeared as an International Truck of the Year award winner 4 times, taking first place twice and second place twice. The heavy duty Stralis XP design, introduced in 2016, includes SMART EGR and other fuel-efficiency solutions. There are many good reasons to buy IVECO Stralis trucks from every era, not least because they offer good value for the money.
Manual gearboxes are available on IVECO’s Stralis tractor unit range, but many operators will have opted for automatic alternatives to take some strain off the driver over long stints behind the wheel. The more recent Eurotronic system not only offers intelligent and efficient shifting, but also integrates some of the controls into the steering column so that they can be altered with a flick of a finger while the driver’s attention remains focused on the road ahead.
Aerodynamics feature prominently on the redesigned Stralis trucks, and within the cab everything is ergonomic. Three available cab options accommodate sleeping quarters, seats, and various technical aids with ease. Everything can be managed from the dash-mounted Iveconnect system, with touchscreen controls that are easy to master. Not all of these features are available as standard, and older units will not have access to the same prestigious hardware. But the whole Stralis range has benefited from similar forward-thinking inclusions over the years, so it remains competitive when compared with equivalent models from rival manufacturers.
